Jeanie Bochenek
School Nurse
Jeanie Bochenek is the School Nurse for the Dayton Regional STEM School and is simultaneously clinical faculty at Wright State University's College of Nursing & Health where she teaches Pediatrics, Community Health, and directs the School Nurse Program. She holds a BS degree in Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing with a concentration in School Nursing from Wright State University. Additionally, Jeanie serves as a board member for the Ohio Association of School Nurses and the Southwest Ohio School Nurse Association. She was the School Nurse in Yellow Springs and for Carroll High School, and also practiced as an RN at the Children's Medical Center in Dayton for over 10 years. Jeanie holds National Certification as a School Nurse.

Philip Bottelier Science/Engineering Philip Bottelier teaches Science and Engineering for the Dayton Regional STEM School. He holds a Bachelors degree from Warren Wilson College in North Carolina and Masters of Arts in Teaching from The Citadel. Philip has a strong background in life sciences and has taught physical science for the last four years at Dayton Technology Design High School. His 13 years of teaching experiences includes one year teaching in the Philippines. Philip is the Dayton Regional STEM School's first National Board Certified Teacher.

Dr. Brian Boyd Principal Brian Boyd is the Principal for the Dayton Regional STEM School. He holds a PhD degree in Teaching and Learning with a focus in Mathematics Education and Rural Education from the University of Louisville, a Masters degree in Educational Administration from the University of Dayton, and dual Bachelors degrees from Miami University. Brian has experience as a high school math teacher and middle school principal in Dayton area schools. Just prior to developing the Dayton Regional STEM School, he worked at Wright State as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education.

Judy Brown Mathematics Judy Brown teaches Mathematics for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds a BS degree in Mathematics Education from Miami University, and a Masters of Education degree from Xavier University. Judy has experience as a Mathematics teacher and School Counselor in the Northwest Local School and Norwood City School Districts in Cincinnati. She has also taught a graduate Methods course for Math teachers at the College of Mount Saint Joseph. Most recently, Judy wrote Mathematics curriculum for Eckerd Youth Alternatives, which has 23 schools in eight states.

Lily Chen Chinese Lily Chen teaches Chinese for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds a Masters degree in Education from the University of Minnesota with a Master in Education. During the 20 years Lily has been living in the Dayton area, she has worked as a substitute teacher in multiple school districts including Bellbrook, Centerville, Beavercreek and Kettering. Lily collaborated with the ESOL department in the Kettering School District as a contract translator and tutor to help students who came from China during their transitional stages. She was the Chinese teacher for regular Chinese classes and bilingual classes at the Dayton Chinese School, and periodically teachers a Chinese conversation class for the Greene County Career Center.

Kate Cook
Life Science
Kate Cook teaches Life Science for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds a Bachelors degree from Oberlin College with a focus in Neurology and Music, and a Masters degree in Science Education from Northwestern University. Kate recently completed her student teaching work with a diverse set of students in the Chicago area. She also brings strong experience in designing and implementing inquiry-based science materials as part of her graduate work at Northwestern.

Robin Fisher School Counselor Robin Fisher is the School Counselor for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds a BS degree in Microbiology from The Pennsylvania State University, a MS degree in Biological Science and a MEd degree in School Counseling from Wright State University. Most recently, Robin served as the Guidance Director and Senior Counselor at Bellbrook High School. She was a middle school/high school counselor at West Liberty-Salem prior to that. Robin's previous professional experiences were in the field of medical microbiology, human health risk assessment and environmental toxicology.

Arch Grieve Social Studies Arch Grieve teaches Social Studies for the Dayton Regional STEM School. He holds a Bachelors degree in Social Science Education from Wright State University and completed his coursework for teaching licensure at the University of Dayton. Arch recently completed hi student teaching at Esther Dennis Middle School in Northridge. He also brings experience working with the University of Dayton's Upward Bound Program and Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

Jackie Harris Language Arts Jackie Harris teaches Language Arts for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds a Master of Education degree in Curriculum Instruction with a focus on Reading from Grand Canyon University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Louisville. Certified to teach in Ohio and Texas, Jackie’s previous teaching experience consists of three years of teaching middle school Language Arts and TAKS reading in Texas, and three years of teaching high school and middle school Language Arts in the Dayton Public School District and the Richard Allen School District.

Jennifer Helton Intervention Specialist Jennifer Helton is the Intervention Specialist for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds a BS degree in Elementary Education and a Masters degree for Intervention Specialist from Wright State University. Jennifer has experience teaching Math, Social Studies, Reading and Science at the middle school level in public and private schools. She is co-founder of SPICE at St. Peter (Special People in Catholic Education), where she works with the students, parents, staff and administration to create an inclusive environment in the private school through raising funds, providing in-services to teachers, and facilitating meetings between families and staff. Jennifer has also been a member of SAPEC (State Advisory Panel for Exceptional Children) through the Ohio Department of Education. Her interest in special education has strengthened over the past nine years through her work as a strong advocate for her youngest son who has multiple disabilities.

Molly Johnson Administrative Assistant Molly Johnson is an Administrative Assistant for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds an Associates degree in Applied Science from Bowling Green State University. Molly brings seven years of school experience, having worked as the Administrative Assistant for Riverside Local Schools in Logan County and at Northside Middle School in Warner Robins, Georgia. Prior to becoming an administrative assistant, she spent three years in the classroom as a Teaching Assistant for students with special needs.

Brittnee Lydy Science Brittnee Lydy teaches Science for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds a BA degree from Wittenberg University, and a Masters degree in Earth Science from Miami University. Brittnee has five years of teaching experience at Unioto High School in Chillicothe, Ohio, as well as two years of experience teaching in Japan. She most recently was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Wright State University, where she is completing a second Masters degree.

Kevin Lydy Social Studies Kevin Lydy teaches Social Studies for the Dayton Regional STEM School. He holds a BA degree in History, with a double minor in Political Science and Education, from Wittenberg University. After teaching English for two years in Japan, Kevin was a teaching assistant at Miami University while earning his Masters degree in Education. Kevin has a variety of experiences including teaching Social Studies, Mathematics, Language Arts, Japanese, Modern World Studies and Psychology. His most recent teaching experiences were with Southern Hills Academy in Chillicothe Ohio and the Ohio Virtual Academy.

Laurie McFarlin Communications and Partnerships Laurie McFarlin is the Director, Network Relationships and Communications for the Dayton Regional STEM School, coordinating the School’s internal, external, community and partner communications efforts. She holds a BA degree in Mass Communications with a Public Relations emphasis from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Laurie has over 25 years of corporate and not-for-profit communications experience with a variety of businesses and industries including American Steamship Company, Wisconsin Natural Gas Company, Harley-Davidson Motor Company and Mead.

Jenny Montgomery Art Jenny Montgomery teaches Art for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds a Bachelors degree in Art Education from the College of Mount Saint Joseph. In addition to four years of teaching experience in art, Jenny has also worked with schools as a service learning coordinator and school-to-work coordinator. Her most recent experience has been as the Development Director for the Westcott House in Springfield and Project Manager with the Glen Helen Ecology Institute.

Brian Polk Mathematics Brian Polk teaches Mathematics for the Dayton Regional STEM School. He holds a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from the University of Michigan. Brian has most recently taught at Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan. He has experience teaching almost every level of mathematics, from Algebra I through Calculus. For the last four summers, Brian has also worked at the Summer Engineering Academy at the University of Michigan.

Jenn Reid Language Arts Jenn Reid teaches Language Arts for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She hold a BS degree in Secondary Education and a Masters of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Miami University. Jenn taught language arts for seven years for the Madeira School District and two years at the Academy for Gifted Children, both in Cincinnati. She also brings tremendous experience in teaching writing, from her participation over the last 10 years with two creative writing projects: Project Jericho in Springfield and Women Writing for a Change in Cincinnati.

Stephanie Russell Administrative Assistant
Stephanie Russell is an Administrative Assistant for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds an Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Sinclair Community College and a Bachelors of Science degree in Organizational Management from Wilberforce University. Stephanie brings over 10 years of pertinent experiences in office management and administrative processes from several education settings, most recently with the Richard Allen Schools in Dayton.

Heather Tash Wellness and Fitness Heather Tash teaches Wellness and Fitness for the Dayton Regional STEM School. She holds a Bachelors degree in Health and Sports Studies and a Masters degree in Public Health from George Washington University. Heather brings some great experiences from her three years of teaching in the Prince George County Public Schools at a middle school in the Washington, DC area.

Yuli Wang
Chinese
Yuli Wang teaches Chinese for the Dayton Regional STEM School and the Dual Enrollment Chinese class for Bellbrook High School. She holds Masters degrees in Accounting and in TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Linguistics from Ball State University. Yuli most recently worked for the Chinese project at the Indiana Academy for Science, Math and Humanities in Muncie, Indiana, teaching beginning and intermediate level Chinese learners. For the past two summers, she has taught English to high school students and adults in China, in addition to several years teaching English at the Chengdu Institute of Sichuan International Studies.
